AIRLINE STATION MANAGER — Africa World Airlines
Africa World Airlines Limited (AWA) is a Ghanaian registered private-sector company formed with the sole vision of making air travel an option for majority of travelers within the markets in which we operate.
Africa World Airlines was incorporated on November 15, 2010 and received its Air Carrier Licence (ACL) from Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in March 2011.
Shareholders of AWA include SAS Finance Group (Ghana), SSNIT (Ghana), HNA Aviation Holding in (China) and China-Africa Development Fund (China).
Africa World Airlines has 5 ERJ 145LR for both its domestic and regional operations. The route network is structured to create a hub-and-spoke model centered upon Accra. This will allow a seamless one-change connection between multiple city pairs including Monrovia.
Africa World Airlines currently fly from Accra to Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi(All in Ghana), Lagos and Abuja(Also in Nigeria)
As part of our expansion process, we will commence flying the Accra-Monrovia and Accra-Freetown routes effective from October, 2017
Commercial, Sales & Marketing
Supervise and report the activities of the GDS to the Head Office Monthly.
Ensure local revenue and yield targets are achieved
Ensure company-wide initiatives are adapted appropriately for local implementation
Responsible for the planning, organising and effective measurement of promotional activities in the region.
Ensure personal involvement in maintaining a close relationship with key corporate, global accounts & VIP marketing and Sales
Maintain a close working relationship with revenue management in Head Office to ensure a sales strategy for the regional route which will maximise yield for the company.
Represent the relevant region at route forums and other related commercial activities.
Represent the Company at the Station to ensure the effective introduction and adaptation of company-wide standards set by Head Office are met
Maintain a cordial relationship with the SCAA and Ground Handling Service providers , air traffic control and related aeronautical units
Submit weekly/monthly reports on operations to Head of Operations Control- Head Office
Supervise the activities of Ground handling company and other related agencies
Budgets & Cost Control
Work with Head of Commercial, agree & set budgets for the station
Ensure costs remain within budget by working with Head Office Finance Manager to regularly review actual against budget and take any necessary action to meet targets.
Community, Industry and Government Relations
Uphold the public image of the company
Ensure a progressive development of the business in the station by meeting, where necessary, with the appropriate Government Officials and Corporate Executives
Speak on behalf of the company at lectures & conferences with the aim of promoting the activities of Africa World Airlines and our brand values
Attend Industry and related functions representing the company
Work in harmony with local press office and the appropriate Head office directors and senior managers to ensure the company position on all current industry issues are well represented
Be available for interviews with all media in the station and deliver company message clearly and concisely on all current industry issues
Ensure senior local staff are kept up to date with both internal and external current industry issues
Deliver business briefings to GDS staff as soon as possible after the briefings takes place in Accra.
Product & Service Development
Through local & customer feedback, ensure relevant head office functions are advised of any potential developments of Africa World Airline products or service standards
Ensure that company wide initiatives on product or service standards are appropriately adapted & implemented in accordance with our brand values
Provide feedback on new competitor product & service innovations to the head office marketing Manager
Actively seek and promote our Charter Flight Operations and other sources of revenue
Identify potential opportunities for additional revenue streams
Work with Commercial department, identify and champion additional destinations/frequencies where the demand exists and is financially viable
Through GDS Staff & customer feedback ensure company standards of service are maintained at all times
Work with the local GDS Management to ensure that all staff are able to handle our customers effectively and in line with company standards
Ensure that all GDS staff are trained to manage any incidents or emergencies that may impact on our business in the station
During and following an incident or emergency to act as the Key local contact for Africa World, Head Office for the media and those handling the friends and relatives of those involved
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will:
Have a minimum of five (5) years airline experience in ground handling and sales; two (2) of which should be at a managerial level
Have proven leadership skills in a multi-skilled environment
Have proven experience managing people from diverse cultural backgrounds
Have a good working knowledge of setting and monitoring budgets
Have a proven negotiating ability
Have a proven ability in planning and prioritisation of tasks
Have the ability to understand and work within different cultures/environments
Have excellent people skills with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels
Have a valid Liberian passport & driver’s license
